Born into middle class family of Finnish roots with four brothers, her father Edmond, was a Director of Water Safety Services at the Red Cross, and her mother Karin, was working as a nurse. She attended the Houston Ballet Dance Company, and finished her education in 1974.
While she was a student she met her future husband, Patrick Swayze; they began their relationship when she was 15 years old, and married in 1975. Her career also began in 1975, as a ballet dancer, performing in concerts, ballet shows and other events. However, she subsequently benefited mostly from her acting career.
Lisa made her debut in the TV series “Max Headroom” in 1987, and before the 1990s, she featured in the films “Steel Dawn” (1987), alongside Patrick Swayze, “Slam Dance” (1987), and “She`s Having A Baby” (1988).
She continued to be active in the 1990s, landing roles in such films and TV series as “Super Force” (1990), as Carla Frost, which was then made into a TV series of the same name and in which she repeated her role.
