Carruth fled, but was arrested by police and sentenced to 18 years in prison, being not convicted of murder, but found guilty of conspiracy to commit the murder, driving the car and using an instrument to kill an unborn child. Currently, he is imprisoned at Tyrrell Prison Work Farm near Columbia, North Carolina, USA. He hopes to be released on the 22nd October 2018.
