John Winston Lennon, born in 1940, in Liverpool, England, also known as John Ono Lennon but usually as simply John Lennon, was a famous British singer, guitarist, keyboard player, songwriter, film director and producer. To the public, John Lennon will always be best known as one of the founding members of the popular rock group called “The Beatles” in 1960. Other members of one of the most famous bands in rock history included Ringo Starr, George Harrison and Paul McCartney. “The Beatles” rose to prominence with the release of such influential albums as “Rubber Soul”, “The Beatles” also known as “White Album”, and “Abbey Road” to name a few. So just how rich is the estate of John Lennon? According to sources, the founder member of “The Beatles”, as well as an inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, John Lennon earned $160 000 from the sales of the “On Air – Live at the BBC Volume 2” album in 2013, while in 2014 his album called “Acoustic” earned $28 000, both of which were sold posthumously. In regards to his total wealth, John Lennon’s net worth is estimated to be $800 million, all accumulated from his career in the music industry.

John Lennon spent most of his childhood with his aunt in Woolton, Lancashire. Lennon studied at Dovedale Primary School, and later enrolled in the Liverpool College of Art. Lennon started his music career with a group called “The Quarryman” with whom he performed at local events. During one of those performances, Lennon met Paul McCartney and asked him to join the band. Shortly afterwards, they were joined by George Harrison and changed the name to “The Beatles”. Apart from singing in “The Beatles”, John Lennon formed an enormously successful song-writing partnership with Paul McCartney, subsequently in great demand by other artists as well as performing their own songs in the group.

Even though John Lennon is best known for his involvement with “The Beatles”, he also excelled as a solo artist after the break-up of the band. Lennon went on to be featured in various films, and released such popular albums as “Unfinished Music No. 1: Two Virgins”, “Wedding Albums”, “Imagine” and “Mind Games”. Many of the albums were recorded together with Lennon’s second wife Yoko Ono.

John Lennon’s personal life wasn’t simple: he was marrie to Cynthia from 1962-1967, and they had a son, Julian. John was also attracted to the Beatles’ manager Brian Epstein, but met Yoko Ono in 1967 and spent the rest of his well-publicised life with her.  Unfortunately, John Lennon’s life came to a halt in 1980, when he was shot four times by attention-seeker Mark David Chapman as he was entering a building in New York. Chapman was subsequently sentenced to 20 years to life in prison.
