Imran is one of five children to Ikramullah Khan Niazi and Shaukat Khanum; Imran grew up with his four sisters, in an upper-middle class family, and as a result he received higher education. He attended the Aitchison College in Lahore, after which he moved to England and went to the Royal Grammar School Worcester. His education didn`t stop there, as he enrolled at the prestigious Keble College, Oxford, studying Economics, Politics and Philosophy. Imran obtained his degree in 1975.

He became interested in cricket before he left for England, playing for his hometown team, but in England he improved his techniques. Returning to Pakistan after his education was through, he continued playing cricket, but focused more on international level. He played for his counTry from 1971 until 1992, and from 1982 until his retirement he was the team`s captain, becoming one of the best Pakistani cricket players, including leading his team to the 1992 Cricket World Cup title. Imran was inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame in 2010.

After his retirement from cricket, he founded a political party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in 1996, and since 1998 has served as its chairman. To speak of his success in politics, his party slowly built its popularity, earning an ever increasing number of votes. Imran served as Member of the National Assembly for Mianwali from 2002 until 2007, but was elected again in 2013, and ever since has been in that position, increasing his net worth to a large degree. Also, he has started the Imran Khan Foundation, which is focused on tending poor people across Pakistan, donating food and clothes. Furthermore, he has raised $25 million in order to build a cancer center, and also started the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust, which is a charity organization, named after his mother. He has received several awards for his contribution to charity organizations, including the Humanitarian Award at theAsian Sports Awards in Kuala Lumpur 2007.
