Daunte’s professional football career began in 1999, when he was selected as the 11th overall pick by the Minnesota Vikings in the NFL Draft. In his first season as a starter, Daunte played in all 16 games, and led Minnesota to 11-5 record, had 33 touchdowns, 3,937 yards, and 16 interceptions. However, Daunte returned to the NFL in 2008, when he signed a contract with the Detroit Lions. In the two seasons he spent in Detroit, Daunte played in 13 games, and had 1,731 yards, 7 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions.
