Thomaskutty enjoyed a good high school career, including the induction of Street & Smith’s Honorable Mention All-America pick at Brewer High School, and received a number of recruiting letters from colleges in Alabama.
While in Tulane, Thomaskutty was honored as the national female winner of the Arthur Ashe Jr. Award for Sports Scholar. Thomaskutty was also awarded the Commissioner’s Academic Medal by Conference USA. She was named a Metro Conference student-athlete of the year for her junior season.
Christy served as head coach of women’s basketball at Emory University from the 2003-04 season through the 2016-17 season. She coached the Eagles for 14 years, amassing a recorded program of 187 wins. In 2012-13, Christy led Emory to a school record of 24 wins, her only UAA title to date, and her first trip to the NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Championship since 1997.
Thomaskutty, having finished her 14th season as head coach at NCAA Division III Emory, also became the first non-NCAA Division I coach to serve as WBCA president since 1999.
Thomaskutty resigned as Head Coach of Emory University due to health problems. The operation took place in June 2017. Since cancer had spread to her lymph nodes, she had a scar in her ear from the middle of her throat.
ESPN approached Christy after she retired, asking if she would be interested in announcing that the network was searching for a former head coach for analyst roles. She gladly accepted the offer.
