Christian Craig Career Bio: Houston Supercross
Christian started his career with the Lucas Oil/Honda Factory Team in 2009. He fractured his back during his debut season and underwent an 11-hour surgery to repair it.
In 2013, Christian announced his resignation from motocross racing. After some time, however, he made a commitment and was soon signed by the GEICO Honda team after the slot opened for a full-time driver.
During his retirement, Christian served as a property manager for a custom home builder in Minnesota.
In July 2015, he became a full-time rider for the 2016 GEICO Honda Racing Team. He competed against Marvin Musquin in the 250-class division of the Pro Motocross Championship.
“I honestly can’t put into words how much this opportunity means to me,” Craig said in a team statement. “Before I retired, I could have only dreamed of being on the GEICO Honda team and now it’s a reality. It’s crazy to me and I feel like it’s a dream.”
Some of the riders say the Houston track is fairly technical. In the 250SX East division, veteran Christian Craig finished the charts on his new Monster Energy/Star Racing/Yamaha bike. He was the only rider in the 250SX class to break the 43-second bracket (including the 450SX class for that matter) and topped the next fastest rider Jett Lawrence (Honda HRC) by a huge margin of almost a full second, 43.765-44.585. It was the first time in Craig’s career that he finished top in qualifying.

Bac on November 3, 2009, Craig sustained an injury that broke his back. As Chris was getting ready for the 2010 season doing some motos, Christian jumped through the rhythm section, the exhaust valve broke and the bike locked.
He leaped off and got away from the bike clean, but when the bike hit the ground and overturned, it bounced back and hit Craig from behind, knocking his feet out of underneath him. It took two 12 hour surgeries to get Christian’s injuries fixed. Following the incident, he also had to learn how to walk again.
After the incident, Christian underwent horrible surgery and rehabilitation. It took such a mental toll on Christian that he eventually retired from the sport in September 2013 and moved to Minnesota to start a family with his wife.
