Rick Santorum’s growing up was divided between Berkeley County, West Virginia, and Butler County, Pennsylvania; the middle child of Aldo Santorum, a psychologist who was an immigrant from Italy, and Catherine, a nurse. Rick went to elementary school at Butler Catholic School, and later attended the Butler Senior High School. He matriculated from Carmel High School in Mundelein, Illinois, where the family moved in 1975. Then he enrolled at Pennsylvania State University, where he became a chairman of the College’s Republican chapter. During college, he was also a member of the Tau Epsilon Phi fraternity, and he graduated with a BA degree in Political Science in 1980. Afterwards, he earned an MBA degree from the University of Pittsburgh’s Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business in 1981.

Soon after, Rick started to volunteer for John Heinz, a senator from Pennsylvania. During the 1980s, he worked as director of the Pennsylvania Senate’s local government committee for senator Doyle Corman, and later, Rick became the director of the transportation committee. When he got his JD degree from Dickinson School of Law in 1986, Rick found a job at Kirkpatrick & Lockhart law firm, but by the 1990s, became more and more focused on politics.

In 1990, he was elected into the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, for the 18th congressional district, winning against Doug Walgren with 51-48 % margin. He stayed on in that position until 1997, which highly increased his net worth. In 1995, he was elected into the U.S. Senate, defeating Harris Wofford of the Democratic Party. He stayed in the Sentate until 2006, when he lost to Bob Casey, Jr. with 41 to 59 % margin. However, Rick stayed in politics, and in 2012 he ran as a presidential candidate for the Republicans, however, he lost to Mitt Romney. He has also started a presidential campaign in 2016; however, it was closed officially on the 3rd February 2016.

The first came out in 2005, entitled “It Takes A Family: Conservatism And The Common Good”. The last one is “Bella’s Gift: How One Little Girl Transformed Our Family And Inspired A Nation”, released in February 2015, and it is dedicated to his daughter Bella, who lives with Trisomy 18, a rare genetic condition.
