To begin with, DeMarcus settled down in Nashville in 1992, winning his first record contract as a member of a Christian group entitled East to West. In 1997, he finally convinced LeVox to resign from his position in the Department of Mental Retardation in Ohio, to pursue their musical dreams together. Soon, DeMarcus joined the band Chely Wright, and there he met Joe Don Rooney. DeMarcus and LeVox were working in a print shop Nightclub Alley, and when the part-time guitarist was not able to play, DeMarcus asked Rooney to take his position. Eventually, they took the name Rascal Flatts, and began working to obtain a contract with Lyric Street Records in late 1999.

Up to date, the band has released nine studio albums, two live albums, four compilation albums, 35 music videos and 35 singles; Rascal Flatts has also released six studio albums under the contract with Lyric Street Records label. At the beginning, the albums “Rascal Flatts” (2000) and “Melt” (2002) were certified respectively two times platinum and three times platinum in the USA. Moreover, “Feels Like Today” (2004) and “me and My Gang” (2006) received five times platinum and four times platinum certifications. “Still Feels Good” (2007) has been certified two times platinum, whereas their last album released under Lyric Street label “Unstoppable” (2009) has been certified only platinum. Due to a noticeable decline in popularity, the band changed their label signing with Big Machine Records, yet it did not help. “Nothing Like This” (2010) was platinum, “Changed” (2012) gold and the last one “Rewind” (2014) sold only 227,600 copies of the album. However, it must be said that all the above mentioned albums except the first one, have reached the top position on the Billboard Top 100 chart.

The band’s biggest-selling single is “What Hurts the Most”, which topped the Billboard country and adult contemporary charts in 2006, and was a hit on the Billboard Top 10.
