He studied at the college preparatory Isidore Newman School, after which he enrolled at Princeton University, from which he graduated with a BA degree in Art History in 1982 and where he was a member of the Ivy Club. Then Michael graduated with an MA degree in Economics from the London School Of Economics in 1985, and was hired as a bond salesman by the Solomon Brothers. In order to become a full time employee, he moved to New York, and attended the training program by the investment bank. This was the basis of his net worth.

However, after a few years he quit his job as his ambitions were higher, and he focused on writing. His first book, and also his first bestseller, came out in 1989, entitled “Liar’s Poker”.
