A recruit from the American Heritage High School in Fort Lauderdale, Wilson made an instant impression on Gators as a true freshman. He was the fourth rookie in school history to start at the corner on the initial day and he played all 11 games. Marco completed with 34 goals and a team-high 10 passes breakup. He was named to the All-SEC Coaches Freshman team.
Marco appeared set as a sophomore for a big year in 2018, but he sustained an ending knee injury and was taking a medical redshirt in his second game of the 2018 season against Kentucky.
In 2019, he played all 13 games spinning between the outside and “star” (nickel corner) positions. In the season, he had 36 tackles and 3 interceptions. Though qualified for the NFL draft, he declared that he would be back to UF for his redshirt junior season in 2020 after Florida’s Orange Bowl victory over Virginia.

Late in the fourth quarter of a tied game, redshirt junior Marco Wilson was penalized after he threw LSU tight end Kole Taylor’s shoes, which had ended up in his hands after a third-down stop.
Unsportsmanlike conduct allowed for the kicker Cade York to nail a go-ahead 57-yard field goal with 23 seconds remaining. Officials immediately threw the flag and LSU was awarded a first down which allowed the drive to continue.
