Perhaps Linda Eder was the most famous new interpreter of theatrical songs to appear during the nineties. A Barbra Streis disciple and early on, Eder slowly developed her own vocal style, branching out of show tunes to include pop classics, light swing, and contemporary adult balladry in her repertoire.
As a stage actress, Eder collaborated primarily with her husband, the composer Frank Wildhorn, who also explicitly planned his content for her (and created her recordings too). It was Wildhorn’s musical adaptation of Jekyll and Hyde that catapulted Eder into stardom for the first time, and she continued to rely on his pen for a good portion of her recorded output, though her new millennium albums extended her comfort zone ever further.

Linda Eder’s Bio, Wiki, Age
Eder was born in Tucson, AZ, February 3, 1961, just two months after her family immigrated to the US. Her mother was Norwegian, and her father was an Austrian pastry chef who finally settled the family in Brainerd, MN, a small northern town where Linda spent much of her childhood.
She was originally inspired by Judy Garland’s performance of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” to try her hand at singing, and at 16, she partially won a local beauty contest by performing an original composition.
Teaming with a high school friend, the pianist Paul Todd, Eder started to play locally, making her first professional appearance at the Brainerd Holiday Inn in 1981. The two took their nightclub act on the road after graduation, playing cabarets, cocktail lounges and supper clubs as Paul & Linda around the country.

And so much more The first version of Jekyll and Hyde premiered in Houston in 1990, and the same year was released an album of musical highlights in hopes of raising interest in the show. Eder meanwhile recorded her self-titled debut album, released in 1991 by RCA.
Wildhorn and Eder published an early version of another musical, The Scarlet Pimpernel, which was initially conceived as a showcase for Eder and her vocal drama in Streisand form. The song You Are My House, recorded between Eder and Peabo Bryson as a duet, has become a minor success on contemporary adult charts. Eder’s next proper solo album was And So Much More in 1994, on which Wildhorn had a hand in composing much of the material. Wildhorn started work on a musical adaptation of Svengali during the same time, which naturally centered on Eder.
