Mr. Zeitlin was born on 19th February 1964 in Nigeria, the son of a single mother—a domestic servant with little formal education. Zeitlin, who is 56 years of age now was adopted by an American family when he was about 5 years old.
The family who adopted him believed that they could help him access a decent education and of course, a whole different life. Growing up, Jide moved from Nigeria to Pakistan to the Philippines, before landing in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Jide hasn’t talked about his biological parents, nor has he divulged more into the details of his adoptive parents. However, the man who adopted Jeid is Arnold Zeitlin. Arnold is a former AP correspondent and bureau chief in West Africa, Pakistan, and the Philippines. He also was a vice president with UPI for the Asia-Pacific region.

After his sophomore year at Amherst Zeitlin took his first step towards his professional career and began working as a summer intern at Goldman Sachs.
Later, he was named senior investment banker, and the Global Chief Operating Officer, in the Investment Banking Division at Goldman Sachs. Jide contributed 19 years of his life working for the company and in 1996, he was elected a partner at Goldman Sachs.
While his time at Goldman Sachs, Zeitlin as well joined the Amherst Board in 1993 as an alumni trustee. When his term as an alumni trustee ended in 1999, the Board appointed him to a term trusteeship.
After Goldman Sachs, Zeitlin worked as a founder and managing director for The Keffi Group until 2019. Simultaneous to that, Zeitlin also started serving as the Chairman Of The Board for NSIA: Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority from 2012. He is still continuing his service there.
