Stevens’ career would begin in River Ridge High School, matriculating in 1998, where he would involve himself in track, basketball and football, originally playing as a quarterback. During his time there, he was accused of beating a schoolmate with a bat and though he denied doing it, he admitted to be a part of the event later on. He was sent to Thurston County jail for three weeks, but because of his talents he was still sought out by the University of Washington. He went to the university and eventually became a tight end, helping Washington win the 2001 Rose Bowl. He continued to produce good performances for the university but was injured later in the year.

Jerramy joined the 2002 NFL Draft and was selected by the Seattle Seahawks as the 28th pick overall. Due to Stevens’ criminal background, the pick had become controversial and it had to be done with deliberations among staff, coaches and Jerramy’s parents. His rookie start was shaky but he eventually reached a turning point and started to perform better. He continued to play in the following years, eventually helping the team get to Super Bowl XL in 2006. He was the player to give the Seahawks their first ever touchdown in a Super Bowl, but missing key plays cost them the game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. After an incident with Tyler Brayton from the Raiders, who was ejected from the game, Stevens was fined $15,000 causing the Seahawks to consider ending his contract. In 2007, he signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and started slowly but improved considerably by the middle of the season. He was however suspended by the league due to substance abuse, which resurfaced in 2008, and later in 2010. That would be his final season in the NFL.
