After finishing college in 2001, she began her career as Tom Harkins’ campaign for Tom Vilsack as governor. She was subsequently named Communication Director for the United States in 2005. She was then Joseph Crowley’s representative. For a year, she kept on working.
In 2008, she joined the U.S. campaign, as Secretary of the Press, Senator Barack Obama. She then became Deputy Press Secretary in 2009. Later, Jen was promoted to Deputy Director of Communications at the White House.
In 2012, she returned to politics for a re-election campaign, with Obama as Press Secretary and Senior Advisor for America. She was named as the United States Department of State spokesperson on 11 February 2013. For 2 years and 2 months, she continued with the post. Jen later became the White House’s Communications Manager in 2015.
