Joyce Penelope Wilhelmina Frankenberg, to give her a birth name, was born on 15th February, 1951 in Hayes, Middlesex, England, of Jewish and Dutch descent. She is a well known actress, usually recognised as the Doctor Quinn from the series “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman” (1993–1998). She has chosen the stage name Jane Seymour after the name of King Henry VIII wife as it looked more saleable compared to her birth name. Seymour is the winner of two Golden Globe Awards and an Emmy Award. More, she is the owner of a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. For her lifetime achievements she was honoured by being made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire. Jane Seymour has been active in the entertainment industry since 1969.

During her long spanned career she has landed roles in more than 28 feature films, 40 television films and 13 series. Her most successful roles include Elise McKenna in the romantic fantasy film “Somewhere in Time” (1980) for which received a nomination for a Saturn Award; the role of Wallis Simpson in the romantic drama television film “The Woman He Loved” (1988) for which a nomination of the Golden Globe was received; and the role of Maria Callas in the television film “Onassis: The Richest Man in the World” (1988) for which she won an Emmy Award.

Jane Seymour’s appearances in various television series were even more successful. She was nominated for the roles in “Captains and the Kings” (1976) and “War and Remembrance” (1988-1989). Talking about the “War and Remembrance” (1988-1989) series, the actress refused three times to accept the main role, and suggested inviting another actress, Ally McGraw, was discussed but then Jane agreed. However, the most successful roles Seymour created were in the series “East of Eden” (1981) and “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman” (1993–1998).
