Brian Dawkins spent his childhood in his hometown, where he attended Jacksonville William M. Raines High School, where he began playing football, as well as basketball. However, upon matriculation in 1992, he enrolled at Clemson University in South Carolina, and decided to pursue a career in football, beginning with the college team. He entered the 1996 NFL Draft, and was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles as the 61st overall pick, which marked the beginning of his professional career, and of his net worth. In his first season, he replaced Eric Zomalt in the free safety position and played in 14 games, 13 of which were starts. He recorded 75 tackles, three interceptions and one sack. In the second season he kept the same numbers, in 15 games this time. In his third season he had 55 tackles, 1.0 sack and two interceptions, and continued to play successfully for the Eagles until 2008, recording impressive numbers, and increasing his net worth during the same time.
