Posen was educated at Saint Ann’s School and during his time there, he joined with fashion designer Nicole Miller as an internee. He also went on a pre-college program from Parsons, The New School for Design. After matriculating in 1999, Zac went to The Costume Institute where he was mentored by curator Richard Martin. He was then successful in entering the Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, which is part of the University of the Arts London. During his time there, he studied womenswear and made a gown that was displayed in the Victoria and Albert Museum.
In 2000, Posen’s name started to become well known after he made a dress for model Naomi Campbell. His popularity and skill earned him many connections who offered to help represent him.
