Playing at Bolingbrook High School, Borland pledged to the state of Ohio on April 17, 2015. He chose Buckeyes from Michigan State, Penn State, and Wisconsin, among others. 247Sports and Scouts graded him as a four-star prospect. He’s been hired by Luke Fickell.
In the 2016 season, he was redshirted as a rookie. In the 2017 season, he played in 11 games and had a total of 58 tackles and one sack as a freshman redshirt. During the 2018 season, Tuf was named captain and had 67 total tackles, three interceptions, one passes defense, and two forced fumbles in his redshirt sophomore season. In the 2019 season, Tuf stayed captain and had a total of 55 shots, one sack, and one interception.
Borland graduated in December 2019 with a degree in human development and family sciences. Since entering the program, he has been the mainstay of the Big Ten Academic All-American Squad.
Borland sustained an injury to Achilles during practice in the spring of 2018. Normal human beings typically do not heal from the Achilles injury in six months. It’s very clear that Tuf Borland is not your usual human being.
