Tim’s career began in Knoxville, Tennessee, where he worked in a kitchen to earn money to put himself through courses studying finance and marketing at the University of Tennessee. He volunteered in various kitchens. wanting to gain both knowledge and experience. He ran his first kitchen at Kiva Grill restaurant in Knoxville, and later prepared dishes at the Knoxville Radisson and other hotels. These were the start of his net worth.

Love became a chef at the Uptown Bistro in Frisco upon moving to Colorado, and won the Taste of Breckenridge Grand Award and the Taste of the Mountains three years in a row. When the Lonesome Dove opened in 2000, he served as Executive Chef at Mira Vista Country Club and as a chef at Reata premier restaurant. However, when it came to opening his own restaurant, Love decided to settle in his home state of Texas. In 2006 he opened two restaurants, Duce in Forth Worth but the other the Lonesome Dove Western Bistro in Manhattan, Chelsea district, New York.

His interest in preparing exotic meats such as wild boar, rattlesnake or kangaroo gained him great popularity, and Tim now oversees a restaurant empire. In 2012 he opened the Woodshed Smokehouse which was named one of “50 Best New Restaurants” by Bon Appetit. The following year he opened a modern version of American steakhouse called Queenie’s.

He often participates in national food festivals and events such as Food & Wine Classic and the South Beach Food & Wine Festival. He was one of the partners for the Austin Food &Wine Festival and the official chef at Austin City Limits Music Festival.

Tim’s partnership with “Sodexo” French food services, began in 2012 and his dishes are therefore offered at Amon G. Carter Stadium, providing catering services and general concessions.

Apart from his culinary career, Tim regularly appears on TV programs like “The Today Show” and “Good Morning America”. In 2006 he appeared on “Iron Chef America” and on “Top Chef Masters” three years later. Love also appeared in publications like the New York Post, Fort Worth Star- Telegram, CNN, New York Times and Dallas Morning News. He also received a James Beard Foundation nomination for his “Cowboys on the Trail” food documentary. In 2013 he was one of the talents on “Top Chef: The Cruise” and received accolades from The New York Times who said he had “found the balance between passing on knowledge and entertaining”.
