Steven Johnson Carell was born on 16 August 1962, in Concord, Massachusetts USA into a very religious Roman Catholic family, of Italian (father) and German and Polish (mother) descent. A popular American actor, comedian, writer and producer, Steve Carell is perhaps best known for his portrayal of Michael Scott in the TV series “The Office”, but has appeared in many other TV productions and on the big screen.

In his youth Steve was a member of Middlesex High School’s ice hockey team, and academically he was keen on history, therefore, Steve graduated in this field from Denison University in Granville, Ohio in 1984. While studying, he was a member of the student-run Burpee`s Seedy Theatrical Company, but having a big need of money, Steve started working as a mail carrier in Littleton, Massachusetts, but left after half of a year because his boss complained that Steve wasn’t fast enough to be a carrier. He also failed when trying to be a lawyer simply because he could not find an adequate reason why he should dedicate his life to law. Then he started working in the field of his eventual professional career: acting in the children`s theatre company and in some comedy musicals, including “Knat Scatt Private Eye”. Then along with comedian Steven Colbert and the Chicago troupe he performed in “The Second City” in 1990, and the same year he took his first film role in “Curly Sue”.

During 1996, Carell was also a writer of and performer in the comedy program “The Dana Carvey Show”, where his net worth finally started growing, and later on he took minor character roles in several series, situation comedies or episodes (“Come to Papa”, “Over the Top”, “Just Shoot Me!” among others). From 1999 to 2005, Steve was also a correspondent on “The Daily Show”.

In 2005 he signed a contract with NBC to take the leading role of Michael Scott in an American version of a British mockumentary about life, “The Office”. Then success came: he won a Global Gold award in 2006 and received two Emmy nominations in 2006 and 2007. During filming he was also working on theatrical films (“Evan Almighty”), and once he realized he wanted to spend more time on developing his film career, he left “The Office”, acting in his last episode “Goodbye, Michael!” in April, 2008. He earned around $175,000 per episode of the third season of “The Office” which was more successful than the first two seasons and contributed significantly to his net worth.

Steve then appeared in many successful comedy movies such as “Little Miss Sunshine”, “Dan in Real Life”, “Date Night”, “Get Smart”, “Seeking a Friend for the End of the World”, and “Crazy, Stupid, Love”. Carell was a co-writer of “40-Year Old Virgin” which took $109 million in domestic box office sales. He also voiced the main character in “Despicable Me”, and appeared in “Dinner for Schmucks” which was not very successful as it grossed only $86 million on a budget of $70 million. Carell succeeded in remaking “Get Smart” into “Maxwell Smart”, by getting around $200 million.

In his personal life, Steve Carell married Nancy Carell – known as the alumna of American television sketch comedy “Saturday Night Live” – in 1995; the couple has two children.
