She attended Wolmer’s High School for Girls in Kingston, and upon matriculation began to pursue a professional career in the sports industry as a track and field sprinter. Later, in 2012 she earned a BA degree in Child and Adolescent Development from the University of Technology.
Her first success in sprinting came when she was 16 years old, at the Jamaican Schools Championships, where she won the 100-meters. Later, in 2007, she won the silver medal with the Jamaican World Championships relay squad. Even then, it was known that she would go to the Olympic Games.
