Born James Ronald Edwin Gant on the 2th March 1965, in Victoria, Texas USA, he is a former baseball player who played in the positions of outfielder and second basemen. He played for nine teams of the MLB during his career, such as the Atlanta Braves (1987-1993), St. Louis Cardinals (1996-1998), and Philadelphia Phillies (1999-2000) among others. His MLB career started 1987 and he retired 2003, after which Ron became a color commentator, and currently works as the host of the “Good Day Atlanta” program on WAGA-TV.

His career began in 1983, when he was drafted by the Atlanta Braves as the 100th overall pick; he wasn`t summoned up for the first team until 1987, and in the first season recorded 22 hits in 83 at bats, and two home runs. However, his second season was quite disappointing, and as a result he spent a year in minor league, and changed his position to outfielder. He returned to the first team in 1990 and batted .303 with 32 home runs and 84 RBI; thanks to a great season, Ron received the National League Comeback Player of the Year award. He also had thirty three stolen bases, and then repeated his success in 1991, with 30 home runs and 30 stolen bases, only the third player to accomplish such an achievement, alongside Willie Mays and Bobby Bonds, however, Barry Bonds later had three season with 30 home runs/30 stolen bases.

In 1994 he signed a new contract with the Atlanta Braves, which certainly increased his net worth, as the contract was regarded as one of the richest in the history of the franchise; unfortunately, Ron broke his leg in an ATV incident, and as a result, the Atlanta Braves released him.
