Randy attended Thomas McKean High School in Wilmington, Delaware, and played football in the position of defensive end, and as a linebacker, depending of the opposing side. During his high school career, Randy became the best player in the high school`s history, and to this day is regarded “Best All-Time Player”.

After high school, Randy enrolled at the University of Maryland on an athletic scholarship, and he vindicated the chance he was given, as he won several prestigious awards, including UPI Lineman of the Year in 1974, Outland Trophy and he was two times selected as All-American, in 1973 and 1974. Randy`s professional career began in 1975, when he was selected as the 1st overall pick by the Dallas Cowboys. He continued to dominate the football field, actually missing just one game until his retirement in 1988. During that time he won numerous awards and recognitions; from 1977 until 1985 he appeared in nine successive Pro-Bowl games, and was selected for the First Team All-Pro in the same years, while he was also named into the NFL 1980s All-Decade Team.

Randy finished his career after the 1987-88 season with a total of 1,104 tackles and 111 sacks. He also earned the nickname of “The Manster” during his career – apparently ‘half man, half monster’ – because of his agility and strength.
