Ninotchka Garcia was born to a wealthy importer father, and an actress mother. She grew up in Barranquilla, northern Colombia, but her parents sent her to the USA because of the unstable situation in Colombia, where the drug lords effectively ruled the country. Garcia attended Dana Hall School in Wellesley, Massachusetts, and matriculated in 1983. She also has a bachelor’s degree from Boston University.
