Nick Mason was brought up mainly in London, and was educated at Frensham Heights School, before studying architecture at the Royal Polytechnic Institution (now the University of Westminster) where he first met his future group-mates – Roger Waters, Bob Klose and Richard Wright. Together, they debuted in the London underground music scene, forming the band “Sigma 6” – which would later go on to become the world-famous “Pink Floyd”, renamed in 1965 after a series of performances under various names. Over the course of the next year, the ascendant “Pink Floyd” would draw the attention of Peter Jenner, who ended up taking the position of their manager. By late 1966, the group was already drawing the interest of larger recording labels.

As “Pink Floyd” marched on to worldwide recognition, Nick Mason would take part in every album the band released. Mainly contributing his considerable talents as a drummer, Mason only had a few spoken or sung parts in any of the “Pink Floyd” songs – most notably “Signs of Life” and “Learning to Fly” from the album “Corporal Clegg”. With “Pink Floyd” becoming one of the world’s most prominent rock bands – all but one of their albums reaching the top spot on American charts – Nick Mason’s already soaring net worth could only continue to grow. After Roger Waters left “Pink Floyd” in 1986, he and Mason engaged in a series of legal conflicts over the rights to the group name – however, after seven years, they were ultimately amicably resolved, and the two have since been seen performing together again, appearing with the rest of the old band in London since 2005.
