Mark`s career began in 1979, when he became a footwear designer for Nike in the Research and Development facility based in Exeter, New Hampshire. In 1987, he became the Vice President in charge of development, and stayed on in that position for two years, when in 1989 he was appointed as Corporate Vice President, and in 1993, Mark became General Manager. With the retirement of Nike co-founder Phil Knight in 2004, an outsider was contracted as CEO, but the company foundered somewhat, and in 2006, Parker became the third chief executive officer of Nike, which increased his net worth by a large margin.

Although he is a CEO of Nike Inc. Parker is still involved in the company`s designs, latest one being the HTM project, on which he worked with Tinker Hatfield and Hiroshi Fujiwara.

While serving as the company`s CEO, Mark has devoted himself to ensure that Nike remain environmentally conscious, and as a result, the company launched its design project “Green Shoe”.
