Barbara Jean Blank was born to a Christian mother and Jewish father, and from an early age she developed an interest towards professional wrestling, citing Stone Cold Steve Austin as her favorite wrestler. During her childhood, Kelly trained in gymnastics for ten years before she was forced to quit due to an injury. She later participated in cheerleading, and studied broadcast journalism with the wish to become an anchor. Kelly also worked as a model with Hawaiian Tropic and Venus Swimwear bikini.

However, while working as a model in 2006, she was approached by WWE official John Laurinaitis, who offered her a wrestling contract. Although Kelly didn’t have any previous experience in wrestling, she signed a deal in May 2006, and went to work first as a ring announcer and referee, and then as a wrestler. Kelly made her debut for the ECW brand in June 2006, becoming the youngest Diva ever to compete in the WWE. Her role was to perform a striptease for the crowd with her on-screen boyfriend, Mike Knox interrupting her and dragging her away to the backstage. The act followed the same routine, before Candice Michelle joined the show.

In 2007, Kelly was back on the stage without her boyfriend Knox, and together with Layla and Brook performed the weekly dance segment as the part of “Kelly’s Expose”. However, after few months, Brook was released from her WWE contract and the group dissolved, which led to Kelly and Layla’s feud. They continued to be on opposite teams and competed against each other in a 10-Diva tag team match at Survivor Series which Kelly’s team won.

Kelly moved to the Raw brand in 2008, and had a feud with former champion Beth Phoenix and fought on several occasions during the season. In 2009, Kelly participated in a Divas battle royal at WrestleMania XXV, and later eliminated Beth Phoenix and Mickie James from winning, to become the WWE Divas Championship candidate. However, she waited until 2011 to win her first WWE Divas Championship against Brie Bella; that win significantly increased her net worth. In 2012, Kelly suffered a neck injury and was allowed time off, but in September, she gave up her contract and decided to concentrate more on modelling.
