Keith started out with the name MC Do Damage, and was known for collaborating with Big Daddy Kane. Eventually he became part of Erick Sermon’s album entitled “No Pressure” in the single “Hostile”. He eventually worked on his first album in 1994, called “The Most Beautifullest Thing in This World”; his single with the same title as the album became a big hit and had very positive reviews, and the album would eventually be certified gold. Murray’s popularity continued with appearances for commercials of Coca-Cola and he also became a part of remixes for songs by LL Cool J. In 1996, he released his second album entitled “Enigma” which continued to get good reviews from critics, however, it didn’t sell as well as the first album. He then became part of Def Squad and was first heard on Busta Rhymes’ debut album entitled “The Coming”, and was then featured on the song “Flipmode Squad Meets Def Squad” alongside Jamal and Redman. Two years later the group would cover the Sugarhill Gang song “Rapper’s Delight”, and they also released their album entitled “El Nino”.

Def Squad is a rap super group that features members such as Murray, Erick Sermon and Redman – the rapper Jamal is also considered an honorary member of the Squad. They all previously worked with each other on their solo songs and albums, and the group formed after the disbandment of another group named Hit Squad. Since their inception, they’re become known for being a part of each member’s solo albums.

Keith then released his third album called “It’s a Beautiful Thing”, and in the same year was heard in R. Kelly’s song “Home Alone”. In 2003, he released another album entitled “He’s Keith Murray”, and the album contained various appearances from Def Squad members. In the same year, he was also seen in the video game entitled “Def Jam Vendetta” which was a mix of hip hop and wrestling. Four years later he would release “Rap-Murr-Phobia” which reached 52nd spot on the US Billboard 200 chart, then the following year he released the album “Intellectual Violence”. One of his latest works is the song “Elektrobank” on which his vocals are featured. He also continues to perform and tour with Def Squad.

For his personal life, Keith was accused of choking two Def Jam employees but he denied it saying that the interaction was only limited to words. The charges against him were soon dropped after. Otherwise he keeps his priavate life very much to himself.
