Born in Brookline, Massachusetts, Kennedy was the son of Joseph and Rose, the second of four children. The family later moved to New York, where Kennedy pursued higher education. He studied in The Chaote School and later enrolled at Princeton University, but after one semester, he moved to Harvard and graduated in 1936 with a degree in International Affairs.

Because of the Second World War, Kennedy joined the military but was placed in the US navy due to health problems. He became Lieutenant and captain of a PT boat and even earned a Navy and Marine Corps Medal and a Purple Heart during his service for saving the lives of his team in a shipwreck. After his time in the Navy, in 1945 he worked for the Hearst Newspaper as a special correspondent.

Kennedy’s political career started when his brother Joseph died while serving in the Military. Their father had dreamt of Joseph becoming the President someday, so Kennedy took it as a responsibility and in 1946 ventured into the world of politics, winning a seat in the US House of Representatives. Not challenged enough, after six years he decided to move up the ladder and ran for Senate. During his years as a Senator, he wrote a book entitled “Profile of Courage”, a biography of various Senators that he admired, and which earned him a Pulitzer Prize. His time serving as a Congressman and Senator increased his national exposure, and also helped in raising his personal net worth.

Although Kennedy was able to provide improvements for the country, unfortunately his term in the Presidency and his life was cut short on 22 November 1963. While on an open limousine tour around Dallas, the President was shot and died half an hour later. The suspect was believed to be Lee Harvey Oswald, but he was also killed even before he faced trial. Even today, some people still believe that Oswald was not the only person involved in the assassination, and that there was a conspiracy behind it. The President died at the age of 46.

In terms of his personal life, Kennedy married Jacqueline Bouvier in 1953, and together they have four children. Rumours of his infidelity abounded, but he is mostly remembered for his youthful enthusiasm in whatever he did, and for the achievements during his presidency mentined above.
