John Denver was raised by Lt. Col. Henry John Deutschendorf and Erma Louise Swope. From an early age he showed an interest in music, when he received an acoustic guitar as a gift. He enrolled at Texas Tech University to study Architecture, but soon quit and started to pursue a career in the entertainment industry as a musician.
John went on to have a successful solo career as a singer and songwriter, but first he was a member of several folk bands, including the Chad Mitchell Trio, which later assumed new name “Denver, Boise and Johnson”, with its members being David Boise and Michael Johnson. However, before the end of the 1960s, he left the band, and started a career on his own. John’s debut release was the 1969 album “Rhymes And Reasons”. The following year, John released two more albums “Take Me To Tomorrow”, and “Whose Garden Was This”, but they were nowhere near rendering as successful albums, as they didn’t chart at all.
