American musician Ike Wister Turner was born on November 5, 1931, in Clarksdale, Mississippi. Long time before Ike & Tina Turner was established, Ike Turner was pursuing a career in the music industry. Actually, Ike was eight years old when he started playing guitar, and piano as well. In the 1940s he formed the group The Kings of Rhythm which focused on blues and soul music, and released a couple of albums – Ike Turner was a member of this band for the rest of his life. Ike’s first release was Rocket 88, recorded in 1951 and credited to Jackie Brenston and his Delta Cats. The single reached top position on the Billboard R&B chart. Ike moved to Missouri in 1954 where he met his future wife Anna Mae Bullock, known by her stage name of Tina Turner. This acquaintance was not only fortuitous in personal life as regards love, but also in his career since it helped Ike Turner to add his net worth.

Probably the period of the 1950s and 1960s was one of the most active periods in Ike Turner`s music career. He worked with many labels such as Chess, Flair, Sue, Trumpet, and Modern. He also collaborated with Blue Thumb and United Artists. All these collaborations helped Turner to increase his net worth.

However, some years later Ike Turner relapsed. He was found dead on December 12, 2007 in his home in San Marcos, California, near San Diego, apparently because of overdosing on cocaine.

Ike Turner’s wider personal life was somewhat confusing: he was married several times – Ike sometimes claimed 13 times –  although legalities are difficult to substantiate. Similarly. Ike had at least six children, including a son with Tina Turner.
