The victorious head coach signed a contract extension with Alabama in 2017, keeping him upto 2024. The deal also gave him an additional $4 million bonus for signing. Thus, he set the record of the highest fee for a college coach, paying him $65 million upto 2024.

Nick Saban holds the record for being the first coach to win the national championship with two different sides. He won six titles in total, where five of them were with Alabama and one with LSU.

The 68-year-old coach began his coaching journey from Toledo in 1989. Later, he left Toledo to become defensive coordinator of Cleveland Browns. Even though he spent four seasons in the side, he said that those four years were the worst of his life.

Miami Dolphins to Alabama

After his excellent run with LSU, Saban pursued a new challenge with Miami Dolphins with a lucrative contract. 

The wealthy coach showed promising signs with the squad but could not do anything exceptional. Surprisingly, he suffered his first losing season with 6-10 in his stint with the Dolphins.
