Hines Ward was born in South Korea, but when he was only one year old, his family moved to Atlanta, Georgia, the United States. Soon afterwards his parents divorced and he was raised by his mother. He graduated from the Forest Park High School, where he started playing football. In showing his true potential, he was twice a winner of the award “Clayton County Offensive Player of the Year”. During his studies at the University of Georgia, he played football for the University of Georgia Bulldogs in the position of wide receiver.
