Hakeem Jeffries is a politician, lawyer, and member of the House of Representatives for the state of New York. He became the first African American to serve as one of seven House Impeachment Managers in the Senate trial of President Donald Trump.

In 2012, he ran for the House of Representatives and won by over 90% of the vote.
Hakeem defeated California Congresswoman Barbara Lee on November 28, 2018, to become Chair of the House Democratic Caucus. He won the re-election to the U.S. House in New York’s 8th Congressional District in November 2020.
