Glenn is son the son of Christine Bridgeman, who was in her teens when she had Glenn; his father was never around. Growing up in the mean streets of Gary, Glenn tried basketball to keep away from the drug and crime scene.

He went to Theodore Roosevelt High School, where his basketball career began, picking up the ball in the ninth grade. During his career, Glenn led his team to the Indiana state basketball championship title, winning against the Brebeuf Jesuits in the finals. Also, for his contribution he received several awards, including Indiana’s Mr. Basketball award, and an MVP of the Dapper Dan Roundball classic along with Chris Webber, and was selected a McDonald’s All-American.

Following his matriculation, Glenn enrolled at Purdue University, where he continued playing basketball, becoming one of the best players of his class. He received several awards, including the Big Ten Athlete of the Year, Big Ten Player of the Year, National college player of the year, and was the NCAA Division I scoring leader, all in 1994.

After college he entered the 1994 NBA Draft, in which he was selected as the first pick by the Milwaukee Bucks. This marked the beginning of his professional career, and also an increase in his net worth, as he signed a contract worth $68 million over 10 years, which still stands as the highest rookie contract ever signed.

Glenn stayed in Milwaukee until 2002, when he was traded to the Atlanta Hawks, for Toni Kukoč, Leon Smith, and a pick from 2003 draft. In his first season at Milwaukee, Glenn averaged 21.9 points per game, which secured him only third spot in Rookie Of The Year Award race, behind Grant Hill and Jason Kidd. Ultimately Robinson is just the second leading scorer in the Buck’s history, behind only Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, as he averaged over 20 points per game in seven of his eight seasons, and made consecutive All-Star Team appearances in 2000 and 2001.

In Atlanta, he continued with great performances, as in his first game he recorded 34 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists, and averaged 20.8 points per game for the season.

Spending only a year in Atlanta, Glenn was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers, and together with Allen Iverson became one of the best players of the season, averaging 16.6 points per game. In the next season he didn`t enter a single game, as he had problems with injuries, and as a result he was traded to the New Orleans Hornets, but was waived by the club.

In April 2005, he signed with the San Antonio Spurs, and helped the team win the title that season, his ultimate accolade as after the finals, Glenn retired, due to injuries which kept him from playing the best basketball he could.

Regarding his personal life, Glenn has two children with Shantelle Clay-Erving; Glen Robinson III who is currently playing for the Indiana Pacers of the NBA, and Gelen, who is a wrestling champion of the Indiana High School Athletic Association in category 220 pounds (100kg).
