Frederick Antwon Taylor was born on the 27th January 1976 in Pahokee, Florida, USA, and is a former professional American Football player, best known as a running back for the NFL team the Jacksonville Jaguars from 1998 to 2008. Taylor also spent two years with the New England Patriots, and was selected for the Pro Bowl in 2007. His career started in 1998 and ended in 2010.

Fred Taylor grew up in Florida and went to Glades Central High School in Belle Glade, where he started playing football as a linebacker before switching to running back in his junior year. Taylor represented the Glades Central Raiders and was listed among the “100 Greatest Players of the First 100 Years” of Florida high school football.

Taylor gained an athletic scholarship to study at the University of Florida in Gainesville, where he played for the Florida Gators from 1994 to 1997. In his rookie and sophomore years, Taylor didn’t record notable results, but in 1996 he collected 629 rushing yards and five touchdowns in seven games. In his last year with the Gators, Fred served as team captain, and rushed for 1,292 yards and 13 touchdowns. Overall, Taylor recorded 3,075 yards and 31 touchdowns in his college career.

The Jacksonville Jaguars selected Taylor as the ninth pick in the 1998 NFL Draft, and he immediately became a key member of the offense with 1,223 yards and 14 touchdowns, while also adding 44 passes for 421 yards and three touchdowns.
