Ethan Bortnick is a son of Gene and Hannah Bortnick, Jewish but born in Ukraine, later immigrated to the US. He started playing keyboard at the age of three, and composed his first song when he was five. The prodigy then featured on many national and international TV programs, making his PBS National Television Concert debut in 2010, and becoming the youngest ever participant at the age of nine.
He sang Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive”, Louis Armstrong’s “What a Wonderful World”, the Beatles’ “Let It Be”, and Little Richard’s “Good Golly Miss Molly”. Bortnick also introduced his original compositions, and interviewed Quincy Jones in the DVD version of the show.
