Carmen Best is an American law enforcement officer; who announced her resignation from the post of Seattle Police Chief on 10th August 2020.
The announcement of her resignation came hours after the City Council approved proposals on Monday that would reduce the police department by as many as 100 officers.
In a statement shared on social media late Monday night, Best, who is the city’s first black female police chief, wrote that she will officially step down from her post on September 2.
‘This was a difficult decision for me but when it’s time, it’s time.
Best further added that she is “confident the department will make it through these difficult times.”
