Germaine Williams was born on 9 December 1974, in Kingston, Jamaica, of West African, Indian, and Jamaican descent. Canibus is an actor and rapper, best known for being a member of various rap groups such as The Hrsmn, The Undergods, Cloak N Dagga, and Sharpshooterz. He is also considered to have been one of the best MCs during the mid-90s, but all of his endeavors have helped put his net worth to where it is today.

When he was younger, Canibus’ family moved around and he found himself living in various cities such as London, New Jersey, Atlanta, and Miami. After matriculating from high school, he worked at AT&T for a year. and then for the US Department of Justice as a data analyst. Eventually, he attended DeKalb College to study computer science.

He started his rap career in the early 90’s under the stage name Canibus Sativa, and formed a rap duo called The Heralds of Extreme Methaphors (T.H.E.M.) with Webb. The duo would last for four years and when they separated, Canibus partnered with businessman Charles Sult. He would go on and make his first album in 1998 called “Can-I-Bus” including the song “Second Round K.O.” which found significant success; it even had a music video that featured Mike Tyson and it would eventually certify gold. Despite the success of the song, there were a lot of criticisms to the album especially due to its sensitive topics and the production itself. Due to the criticisms, Canibus cut ties with the producer of the original album, Wyclef Jean and would then make “2000 B.C.”, which again had mixed reviews. There was also very little promotion of the album which is why it didn’t sell well, even though it featured a lot of collaborations, so eventually Canibus formed a rap group called The HRSMN, but their plans to make an album never got traction. The following year, Canibus released a third album “C True Hollywood Stories” and once again the album proved to be controversial and had mixed reviews.

The criticisms on Canibus continued through the year, and it wasn’t until the release of his fourth album “Mic Club: The Curriculum”, that critics were silenced, and would go on and become a critical success. Canibus then decided to take on a military career, despite having another album in the works called “Rip the Jacker”. Regardless, the album would also become very successful and would reach the Billboard 200 at number 197, though sales were still relatively low. After leaving the army, Canibus released “Mind Control” in 2005, but it had negative reviews too. He collaborated with rapper Phoenix Orion for a while to create the duo Cloak N Dagga, and afterwards released “Hip-Hop for Sale” which was yet another poorly received album. He would work on another release “For Whom the Beat Tolls” this time using his own imprint, and he would go on to promote the album by touring around the US.

Canibus would bounce back in 2009 with the release of “Melatonin Magik”, which this time had good reviews. He followed up the next year with “C of Tranquility”, and then recorded an entirely new album entitled “Lyrical Law”, which had numerous collaborations. One of the latest events that Canibus participated in was a King of the Dot rap battle in 2012.

For his personal life, it is known that Canibus has two children, but details of relationships are lacking. His career was also filled with feuds against other rappers. Aside from that, it is known that he joined the military to get away from music but was discharged after it was discovered that he smoked marijuana.
