She attended Cedar Grove High School, after which she decided to become a student at the Culinary Institute of America.

Amanda`s career began soon after she received her diploma from the Culinary Institute Of America, working at the Vong New York under chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten. Five years later, she switched to Verbena, under chef Diane Forley. However, that didn`t last long, as she started to travel across the Europe, mainly Italy and France, showing her skills at restaurants such as L’Arpège, among others.

Her career reached a whole new level in the early 2000s, as she decided to open her own restaurant, teaming up with restaurateur Godfrey Polistina to open the Cesca Enoteca & Trattoria, on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. However, she left the restaurant to join a more famous one, The Harrison, in the position of executive chef, which increased her net worth by a large margin, but she left that restaurant in 2010 to focus more on her career on television.
