Fortunately, her life turned around in 2004, when she met and befriended Michael K. Williams, who was a cast member of the TV series “The Wire”. He proposed that she audition for a part in the series, and after accepting the offer, the rest became history. The writers created a character based on her life, and even kept the name. Her tenure in the series lasted until 2008, during which her net worth increased to a large degree.
